Entry requirements

General admission requirements

A recognised bachelor’s degree in any discipline or specialisation.

Students with a related business degree completed in the past ten years can gain RPL for the four courses outlined below, meaning they can acquire a master’s degree by studying a further eight courses.

The Graduate Certificate in Business is an entry and exit qualification for the Master of Management (8431).

For those who do not qualify for direct entry into the master’s program, you may be eligible for entry into the Graduate Certificate. Upon successful completion of the Graduate Certificate, you may be eligible to articulate into the Master of Management.

How much does it cost to study the online Master of Management at UNSW?

The total indicative cost of completing a Master of Management depends on the elective courses you choose to complete and any recognition of prior learning before the commencement of your studies. The 2023 indicative Domestic tuition fee for the Master of Management is $55,800*. More information can be found at international tuition fees.

FEE-HELP loans are available to assist eligible full-fee paying domestic students with the cost of a university program. This Government loan scheme helps to pay for all or part of their tuition.

Can I study Master of Management without a bachelor's degree?

If you are looking to study the online Master of Management at UNSW but do not have a recognised bachelor’s degree (or equivalent qualification), then you will need to apply for the Graduate Certificate in Business.

To be eligible for the Graduate Certificate in Business without a bachelor’s degree, you must have a minimum of three years’ relevant work experience. Relevant work experience includes clerical or administrative work in a commercial or public service organisation, supervisory or management, banking, finance or marketing experience or other business-related positions.

Generally, upon successful completion of the Graduate Certificate, you may be eligible to articulate into the Master of Management.

Can you articulate to the online Master of Management from the online Graduate Certificate in Business at UNSW?

The Graduate Certificate in Business is an entry and exit qualification for the Master of Management (8431).

What type of commitment is required for each week?

UNSW Online advises a minimum of 15-20 hours of study per week for the Master of Management. The study mode is 100% online so there are no on-campus requirements.

How long does it take to complete a Master of Management at UNSW Online?

You can graduate from the Master of Management in as little as two years. This program has been designed with the working professional in mind and offers you a 100% online learning environment, meaning you can study anywhere, any time, without having to take time out of the workforce.

Each course is taught over seven-week blocks, allowing you to focus and to add immediate value to your organisation while blending study into your lifestyle.

What is the maximum Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for the Master of Financial Technology and how do I know if I am eligible?

Your previous studies can be acknowledged as credit towards your online postgraduate studies provided that they meet relevant course requirements. If you are eligible for admission and you have undertaken previous studies at another institution, you may be eligible to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

Students can apply for RPL during the program application process and must ensure all relevant supporting documents are submitted for assessment if requested by Admissions, including course outlines from the same year they completed the relevant course/s as content may change over time. Courses successfully completed within the past 10 years can be used for credit transfer within a program as provided within the program rules and the University rules on credit. If completed similar courses in postgraduate business studies or an undergraduate degree in a business related area, Master of Management students can claim up to 4 courses (24 units of credit) of RPL advanced standing for the four courses outlined below, meaning they can acquire a master’s degree by studying a further eight courses.

RPL advanced standing is not permitted for Graduate Certificate in Business students.
